Paddle Board Yoga

Paddle Board Yoga is the result of our love for the open sea, the fulfillment of sharing our knowledge and the excitement of discovery we experience in our journeys.
There is absolutely no need for prior experience of Yoga or Stand up Paddle. We welcome all levels, from beginners to pros, aiming to provide a unique experience of Yoga, while enjoying the natural splendor of floating in the water at the majestic bay of Loutraki. Our goal is to help you achieve calmness and serenity, a reinvigorating experience to be remembered forever.

Our teacher combines Yoga asanas with simple and gentle exercises for the eyes, tongue and jaws, neck, hands, feet, knees, ankles and hips, which tone up the body, keep our internal organs and the hormonal system in balance, and refresh the mind and spirit. The gentle sound of water lapping while on a paddleboard will help you relax and combat stress, fatigue and pain.

Breathing fresh air, soaking up vitamin D and enjoying the natural landscape of the Cretan sea, it beats just about any gym or studio out there.

Complete your rejuvenating course with a healthy breakfast, fresh juice and fruit, yogurt and honey, right next to the sea, at Mare Nostrum restaurant, with overwhelming view at the bay of Loutraki.

Take your time to relax, sunbathe and swim in the crystal waters, before heading back to the Mistral Hotel.

Why you should try paddle board yoga:

1. It's fun

It's well-known that novelty is important in exercise regimens in order to stay motivated and happy. According to the National Institute of Health (US), "Mixing it up also helps to reduce boredom and cut your risk of injury." There are many different types of yoga, but it's still easy to fall into a rut. Trying paddleboard yoga will keep you on your toes.

2. It's healthy

You'll be more in tune with your poses. Since the platform is unstable, you have to engage your core more for better balance. L.A.-based yoga instructor Dice lida-Klein told Men's Fitness that the workout is more challenging. "Your whole midsection will have to work to keep you balanced and afloat. You have to work harder and focus more on the water."

3. It's beautiful

Between breathing fresh air, soaking up vitamin D and enjoying the natural landscape, it beats just about any gym or studio out there. "Yoga means 'union,'" Hilary Kimblin, owner of Yoga Under the Trees in Beverley Hills, CA, told Yoga Journal. "When it's practiced outdoors it seems like the union with nature, humanity, and the universe is truly felt."

4. It calms & helps your breath

Ocean Breath, is a popular yoga method for breathing because the "ocean" sound is believed to soothe your mind. Some researchers believe that listening to the sound of the ocean can help people to relax. The gentle sound of water lapping while on a paddleboard will help you relax and key you in to the most important aspect of yoga: your breath.

How does it work?

Just stand up-right on your board, facing forward with feet shoulder-width apart and your knees bent. When paddle surfing, turn your body into the standard surf stance, use your SUP as a long-board, and your paddle to maneuver yourself through the wave.
The instructor will introduce you to PADDLE BOARD YOGA and you will be able to balance and feel comfortable on your board after the first 10 minutes.

You can also rent a board and take a course in SUP (Stand Up Paddle Surfing).
