MAKING MEMORIES – WHY BIRTHDAYS ARE SO SPECIAL AT THE MISTRAL
If we only know two things after 30 years in the hospitality business it’s that nobody should be alone on their birthday, and that every birthday deserves a party. So we make birthdays really special at the Mistral. We’ve always believed that holidays are all about ‘making memories’ and nothing should be more memorable every year than your birthday. As people get older there’s a temptation to play it down as just another chalk mark on the wall. In reality it’s another 365 more days of experience and wisdom ‘in the bin’ of life.
A SINGULAR SENSE OF SURVIVAL
We also totally understand that for quite a large proportion of ‘Mistralites’ a birthday can also represent a time to celebrate another 12 months of survival. A day where we can feel proud that we’ve overcome the vicissitudes life might have thrown at us in terms of health, bereavement, relationships, work, or money. Living as a single can be tough, and a holiday can be as much respite from the day-to-day routine as it is an adventure. There’s nothing wrong with having made it through another 12 months!
LET’S GET THE PARTY STARTED
Few guests make a point of telling us that it’s their birthday. They don’t need to as we keep date of birth on our records and our system flags up at the start of the week just who will be celebrating. Armed with that knowledge, our birthday party plan swings into action. The Chef is briefed, the cake is baked, and the sparkly candles are smuggled into the kitchen. At the appropriate moment our crack team of Mistral Ninja Birthday Elves appear singing Happy Birthday accompanied by a chorus of guests.
OK – so it’s all a bit cheesy but hey, you only get your birthday once a year – it’s your special day and we want to help you celebrate it. After the cake and another glass or two of wine things might quieten down a little. Alternatively the night might go totally off-piste, with our birthday girl or boy ending up dancing the night away under the stars. If that’s you then dance like there’s no one looking – never forget you might be there by yourself, but you’re most definitely amongst friends.
